Newly Published Book and Accompanying Exhibition at the Baur Museum, Geneva


This work, Chinese Snuff Bottles from the Baur Collection, is devoted to Chinese snuff bottles and is the twelfth volume of the Catalogue of the Baur Collection, Museum of Far Eastern Art, in Geneva. This catalogue presents a selection of 175 of the 556 snuff bottles in the Baur Collection, classified according to materials: glass, porcelain, jade, quartz and chalcedony, semi-precious stones, organic materials  amber, coral, ivory, mother-of-pearl and lacquer), as well as enamelware. Fully illustrated with over three hundred color photographs, this reference book also includes a summary of the correspondence exchanged between Baur and his buyers from 1922 to 1951.


The author is Vérène Nicollier who was for thirty years assistant to the curators of the Baur Collection.
